Antelope Canyon, AZ
I have always hoped that, at least once in my life, I would have a chance to visit and photograph one of the most spectacular canyons in the North American Southwest, the "Antelope Canyon". I had this chance in the Spring of 2011.
Located on the sacred Navajo land, near the city of Page, AZ, this slot canyon is nothing short of amazing. Almost invisible from the outside, this canyon is very narrow and deep. The narrow openings on the surface let the light enter the canyon in a very selective way.
Photography within the canyons is difficult due to the wide exposure range (often 10 EV or more) made by light reflecting off the canyon walls. The Navajo sandstone, shaped by the flooding rain, provides for the most beautiful hues, ranging from yellow thru vivid orange and red. I hope you enjoy this photogallery (59 photos).
